Do It Today- How to overcome procrastination, improve productivity & achieve more meaningful things- Darius Foroux

Battling Procrastination is an inner battle

ree

There is always something that interrupts us, like calls, excuses, people, pets, and notifications. But these things can interrupt us only with our permission.

When we procrastinate, we might feel better in the short term. But we will suffer long-term. We put off things as we are afraid to fail at them.

It is a sign of poor willpower, self-control, self self-regulation. There is fear of stepping outside of our comfort zone. It takes courage. The author has explained the power of compounding by working on one single task, completing the task and going to the next task instead of multitasking.

I have started using the Pomodoro technique, where I use a kitchen timer for 25 minutes and concentrate on the task at hand. Be it reading, binge-watching or official work. I take a break for 5 minutes after 25 minutes of focused attention.

"Life is too short to do work you don't enjoy"

The author, with his own life experience and examples, explained how to improve productivity by taking a time off or taking a vacation, reading books, eliminating the concept of perfectionism, changing the smartphone behaviour of browsing the internet, scrolling apps and social media by turning off all notifications except calls and messages.

The author has explained how to work on universal skills like self-discipline, Personal Effectiveness, Communication, Negotiation, Persuasion, Physical strength, stamina and flexibility.

There is a 30-minute evening ritual where the author asks us to close the day with a journal, reviewing the next day's calendar and preparing the next day's outfit.

" Doing something that we love instead of doing it for money and status is the secret to eliminating Procrastination"
